LG has announced its new 4G LTE Spectrum smartphone, for Verizon Wireless
Among the electronic goodies unveiled today at CES 2012 in Las Vegas was LG's new 4G LTE Verizon smartphone, the Spectrum. The phone's big selling feature is its 1280 x 720-pixel high-definition display - it is billed as "the first smartphone for Verizon Wireless to feature a 4.5-inch True HD In-Plane Switching (IPS) display, the same display technology used in premium LG HD televisions."
The Spectrum also includes a Qualcomm 1.5 GHz dual-core processor, and exclusive HD access to ESPN's ScoreCenter application - this includes live game details such as stats, news and video.
Additional features include:
• Corning Gorilla Glass
• Android 2.3 Gingerbread (Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade available the first half of 2012); support for Google Mobile Services including Gmail, YouTube, Google Talk, Google Search, Google Maps and access to Android Market
• Preloaded Netflix app
• Support for Dolby Digital Plus, which allows users to stream up to 7.1 channels of surround sound through home entertainment systems
• 8-megapixel rear-facing autofocus camera with LED flash and 1080p video capture
• Front-facing 1.3-megapixel camera for video chat
• SmartMovie HD app, to create and edit HD videos on the phone
• Mobile Hotspot capability, to share 4G LTE connection with up to 10 Wi-Fi-enabled devices
• Bluetooth Version 3.0
• 16 GB microSD card pre-installed with support for up to 32 GB
• SmartShare, to share media wirelessly to DLNA-enabled devices
• HDMI mirroring capable via MHL
The LG Spectrum will be available as of January 19th in Verizon Wireless stores and via the Verizon website, for US$199.99 with a new two-year customer agreement.
