Wire hanger laptop stand - add a little ergonomics to your life

Ok....so I recently moved and it will take a while before I will get a desktop and couple large displays, so I am forced to work from my ThinkPad. Now don't get me wrong I do believe that if you have to work from laptop ThinkPads are definitely you best choice, but there are still disadvanteges in comparison to a desktop setup. Here is a list of main issues I had:

PROBLEMS:
1) You are constantly looking down, because the screen is way to low to be comfortable, so your neck hurts.
2) You are crouching => it hurts + You will end up looking like a Quasimodo. I don't want that to happen.
3) Keyboard doesn't have numpad, and your hands are way to close to each other and at weird angle, so your wrists hurt all the time.
4) The "Clit" aka IBM TrackPoint is a great pointing device, IF you have no other choice, like a mouse for example :)
5) You are wasting way too much space on your table, with you laptop lying flat.

SOLUTION:
1) Buy wireless mouse and keyboard set. I bought Logitech® Wireless Wave Combo MK550 , I think it is a great value for $30.
2) Stand you laptop up!

WHAT YOU NEED:
1) Pliers, I use SwissTool . The best investment in my life (the only thing that comes close are my mountain boots and a backpack)
2) Wire hanger
Optional:
3) Masking tape

LETS GET TO IT:

Steal a hanger from your girlfriend when she's at work, get rid of the evidence (whatever was on the hanger before you realized you need it more then she).

Clip the HANG from the HANGER, or HOOK or whatever its called, including the twisted bit. When clipping the second wire try not to poke your eye out, the off cut...off clip?... hook?....tends to fly pretty far, so make sure your eye does not collide with the trajectory of the the hook. This sounds simple but since you don't know the trajectory in advance it's kinda like a negative lottery, I resolved this by looking away, closing eyes and hoping not to win. And luckily I didn't win.

Now you have stupidly shaped ex-HANGER => HANG-less hanger or simply ER. Straighten you ER then.

Now you should have more or less a wire. So if you had nice suitable wire lying around you didn't have to read the part before this.

Now think of your design, I went for a simple dip like shape that hold the laptop upright, and flaps that will hold the stand in place on table.

1) Mark the center of your "as-close-as-possible-but-probably-not-really-straight" wire. You don't really have to.
2) Check where are you laptop feet and other nasty things that could render your job unnecessarily difficult.
3) Start with the first 2 - 90 degree bends. You will scratch the wire but that's fine, just hold the pliers on the outside part of bend. Now you will have sort of a house shape, house shape of a 1 year old that is, basically this shape ∏.
4) Plan the bends that will form the "dip" for you laptop and execute them. I used masking tape, to make sure both sides look the same by marking the bend lines on a piece of tape and then cutting it in two identical slices, plus you get the advantage of not scratching your wire, PLUS you will get sort of a cushion for you laptop. All of that for free, if you call in the next 10 minutes!! That's an unbelievable deal! One in a lifetime!!
5)I suggest you let the rest of the stand lie down on the table, this will later help hold it in place, it looks better, and I said so.
 6) Now you should have kind of something like this (from left side):

                                                                                                         ###         #
                                                                                                         #   #        #
                                                                                                         #    #      #
##############################################     ####

 7) Decide how far from the end of table you want your laptop to stand, and bend the wire again.

                                                                  ###         #
                                                                  #   #        #
                                                                  #    #      #
#############################     ####

8) Form flaps that will hold the stand stable.

                                                               ###          #
                                                               #   #         #
                                                               #    #       #

 9) Now band half of the flap back, sideways to form wider flap and cover with masking tape.
10) Beautify flaps, so they slide easily on the side of your table. You're done!

 11) Show off! Show off to your girlfriend (don't mention materials), show off to your friends, when you run out of people to show off, create Instructable, after that create blog about ýou laptop stand, generate interest, start selling it, sell millions of stands, buy an island in Carribean, build a castle on the island, chill forever. Profit.

PS: This is my first one, so be nice, or at least not as ugly as usually. There's not enough pictures, because I didn't take any, it wasn't meant to be instructable I basically needed a laptop stand, but was tool lazy to leave appartment, so built one, then I thought someone might find it useful. If you find something not too clear, please let me know.
