How to Put a Photo Album on a Web Page

A digital photo album is a collection of pictures, which you can organize on your Web site. A Web album makes it easy for you to organize and edit your digital photos. You can then share your album with friends and family [source: Picasa]. Many online photo developing sites offer the option of setting up a photo album. However, you can also make your own album with an application for building Web pages.
Here's how to build a photo album on a Web page using Dreamweaver. You'll need to install Dreamweaver and Fireworks 4 (or a newer version) to set up your photo album.
  1. Put all the pictures you want to use in one folder. Make sure all the image file names have one of these extensions: .gif, .jpg, .jpeg, .png, .psd, .tif, .tiff.

  2. Go into Dreamweaver and click on Commands. A list will appear.

  3. Select Create Web Photo Album from the list. The Photo Album title box will appear in a grey rectangle at the top of the thumbnail page.

  4. Enter a title in the title box. Fill in subheadings in the space provided below the title line, if you wish.

  5. Select the folder containing the images you want to load by clicking the Browse button, which is next to the Source Image Folder text box.

  6. Create a destination folder for your pictures by clicking the Browse button next to the Destination Folder text box.

  7. Select the size for your thumbnail images from the Thumbnail Size menu.

  8. Click on Show Filenames to display the name of each file under the thumbnail picture.

  9. Enter the number of columns for the table that will display the thumbnails.

  10. Select either GIF or JPEG format for the thumbnail pictures from the Thumbnail Format menu.

  11. Select a GIF or JPEG format for the enlarged images from the Photo Format menu.

  12. Select a scale percentage for the larger size images.

  13. Select Create Navigation Page for Each Photo if you want to create a separate page for each image.

  14. Click OK to create the image files for the photo album.

  15. Click OK when Album Created appears on your screen. Your Web page photo album has been created [source: Adobe].
